Curated the annual season of events for The Berman Center for the Performing Arts in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, Directed marketing and communications initiatives, and publicity campaigns. Partnered with individual donors and community organizations to develop sponsorships and secure funding opportunities. Provided leadership for The JCC’s summer theatre camp and community theatre program.
Artistic Director, The Historic Gem and Century Theatres (Detroit, MI)
2010 – 2011
I worked with the owners to research and see new plays and curate the season. I assisted the directors in casting and staffing. I was involved in contract negotiations. I managed the ticketing and box office staff. I created marketing strategies and fostered relationships with media. I researched the community and theatrical trends at comparable theatres nationwide.
Deputy Director, Matrix Theatre Company (Detroit, MI)
2004 – 2009
I managed the Matrix staff, contract artists, volunteers, and interns. I created and executed contracts, project plans, productions, marketing, and publicity. I worked with the executive director to write and report on grants and collaboratively select each season of plays. My most remarkable experience was collaborating with the UAW (United Auto Workers). We brought in the American historian Howard Zinn. He came to learn about the culture of Southwest Detroit.
