ABOUT

Before returning to academia, I was the founding director of The Berman Center for the Performing Arts at the Jewish Community Center of Metropolitan Detroit from 2011 – 2019. I also served as the Artistic Director of The Historic Gem & Century Theatres (2010 – 2011), the Deputy Director of The Matrix Theatre Company (2003 – 2009), the resident production stage manager for The Second City Detroit, and a lighting designer, stage manager, and production manager for several national touring musicals, concerts, and dance shows.
In 2018, I decided to return to school to get my Bachelor’s degree in theatre. I then applied for Master’s programs in Theatre Studies. By August my husband and I were moving to Tallahassee, Florida.
In 2020, the pandemic hit and though I had moved 1,000 miles from my family to attend school in person, I was sent home to our apartment, where I would stay until I completed my master’s degree remotely, from Tallahassee. So, when Florida State accepted me into the Ph.D. program, I happily accepted. My husband insisted we move into a beautiful little house, which has been my home while I studied.
On May 1, 2026 I will graduate with my doctorate degree! I am currently searching for work and volunteering as the Conference Planner for the Mid-America Theatre Conference (and will be until 2027). I have a renewed love for research and writing. And, as my mom has told me my entire life, I love teaching. Now, I understand that this is because I believe the most important work I can do is to inspire others to engage in the arts.
